Actually the problem was traced down to the machined surface on the mounting flange that the torque hub mounts to and that created a stress point on the bolts. Problem has been corrected and no other failures have occured.

There was a demo here on the east coast. I heard they were having a problem with the drive pumps having so much torque that they were shearing the mounting bolts right off. Also heard its a very big machine.

A couple of facts on the PR500. "Le Beast"
Prototype had 2 drive pumps per side, current configuration has single pump.
Tracks are 82" vs the 350 which are 66".

Just a thought here. Have you tried the 66" track on the 500? I think Stratton runs the 58" tracks on their 350's. I've operated the 500 a few nights. It defiantly has a lot of torque on the tracks. Very powerful machine, but you can really feel it working when you make a tight turn with it. Not sure if a smaller track size would make any difference. Just a thought.

Have operated the PB 400 a few nights, it feels like PB has come up with a nice tiller now. Sure would have like to have the past few nights in the thaw/freeze cycle we just had to see how it performed. Not sure if any tiller would have worked in these conditions?

Thanks for your comments. We have asked our engineering staff to look into a slightly narrower track which we feel would add a touch more ground psi as well as help it turn just a bit better. The 58" track is all but gone here in the east. Stratton runs all 66" on their fleet now, with the exception of 1 275 that they use for mowing in the summer. I will have to confrim that. Most everyone who has run the 500 loves it. Certainly would like to hear the pro's and con's to help us make it even better that it is. Yes PB has been working hard on their tiller, I think they have several versions working at different area's, not positive on that. From what I have been told their headed in the right direction.

The 500 was awesome, powerfull,very quiet. You get used to the size very fast. Groomed all terain from blue to black and could cut and go on very bumped snow from a busy weekend day of skiing, nice to have some weight on the blade again, not a rocking horse like the 350.

would anyone know if the seat is in the middle like the Bison or is it off to the side like the 350?

The Demo had a regular 350 cab, I think production may be the center seat cab.
