They're your best friend if you're running a Prinoth, but you don't even have to worry about them if you're in a bully ;)

They have their advantages in many areas, regardless of what machine they are on. You can be a little more aggressive on downhill passes with them in certain conditions, which is nice.

A good operator does his best with what he has. The Prinoth vs. Pisten Bully argument is a waste of time.

The "good" that you mention also comes with drawbacks such as decreased climbing ability in soft snow so if you have to have them down to stay clean, they are going to act as anchors on your uphill passes in certain conditions. And the knuckles where they mount to the tiller can leave ridges and trenches depending on how the tiller is set and to fix one problem you create another by adjusting depth and then you're no longer leaving a good pass. So in the end a tiller that can stay clean without them is better imo, but to each their own I guess....
