LMC 3900

Postby admin on 27 Oct 2008, 13:52

Is anyone familiar with the LMC 3900 machine? There were only a handful made, IIRC. I'd like to see some pictures/info if anyone has any. Same body style as the 4700, but smaller power plant. Can't seem to find much. I know my dad has an original brochure on the machine from when he was operating one on a daily basis. If I come across it, I'll scan and post.

Ah yes-the 3900. Powered by a Cat 3208. Operator sat in the middle with a buddy seat on either side. Was a semi-cab foward design. I think DMC (at that time) made like 10. John Delorean did the actual design. Sauer drive train. Last one I personally saw/worked on was at Bryce, VA. We took it on trade in 1995 and who knows from there.I think I saw one also at Clear Fork, OH as well but I do not even know if they are still open. When I get home I will check my old info and see what I have. As a side note-I love the idea of this forum and will check it daily-but how about a generic cat pic on the top. I am afraid I am a Ford (Prinoth) man, not a Chevy (PB) man-lol.

Thanks for the info, and glad you like the board!

Funny you should mention the pic on the banner. I'm going to work on a full width banner that will incorporate several of the major manufacturer's work (PB, Prinoth, Ohara, and maybe Leitner). Should have that done in a day or two.

Actually Leitner is our parent company. There is now PB and Prinoth with Ohara as well for the big three. Prinoth is the snowcat division of Leitner. Who is your dad-I may know him or vice versa

Right, but Leitner still builds cats under the Leitner name in Europe, no?

My dad is Dan Torsell, VP/GM Mt. Ellen at Sugarbush.

No-when Leitner bought Prinoth in '02 they decided to use the Prinoth name for their snow cat division. In Europe the choice of vehicles is the Prinoth Everest, Prinoth Leitwolf, Prinoth Bison or Prinoth Husky. In NA it is the Prinoth BR350, Prinoth Bison and the Prinoth Husky. In limited production is the Prinoth PR500.

Hey I just talked to Patrick about the same problem. He is heading home right now, but when he gets there, he will adjust the size of the avatar photo posting limit. This should take care of our problem. Try to upload your photo in a couple of days. 8-)

He's got the avatar file size limit set pretty low, that's probably the problem. If you have a photo editing program you can try saving the picture you want at a lower quality to get the size under 6KB. If not then maybe he'll raise the limit to a more realistic number.
